Watchman securing polling center shot and wounded in Cebu City

CEBU CITY – A village watchman was shot and wounded by still unknown assailants while securing a polling center in Barangay Zapatera in this city at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, May 9.

Brian Mabaga was seated on a chair in front of the Zapatera Elementary School when three men on board two motorcycles approached and shot him several times.

Mabaga, a resident of Barangay Lorega San Miguel, was rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

“The victim is currently conscious,” said Lt Col. Ryan Devaras, Deputy Director for Administration of the Cebu City Police Office.

Aside from being a watchman, Mabaga also served as a fire volunteer.

Policemen have yet to determine the identity of the perpetrators, as well as the motive behind the crime.
