The longest and the tallest bridge in the Philippines: CCLEX opens today

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, himself inaugurate today the CEBU-CORDOVA LINK EXPRESSWAY (CCLEX).

Described as Cebu’s newest icon, CCLEX is an engineering marvel of the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corporation (CCLEC).

The opening of the 8.9-kilometer CCLEX will happen on a historic date—the 501st commemoration of the Kadaugan sa Mactan or Victory in Mactan, which marks the victory of the warriors of Mactan under chieftain Lapulapu over the Spanish armada led by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan.

This first toll road project outside Luzon started construction in July 2018, CCLEX has a design speed of 60-80 kilometers per hour (kph) and has a navigational clearance or height of 52 meters, allowing large vessels to pass underneath the bridge.

Aside from four-wheel vehicles, the CCLEX Bridge Management Board (BMB) has allowed motorcycles to pass the expressway with 400cc and below, particularly 125cc to 399cc.

CCLEX is expected to serve at least 50,000 vehicles daily and is a joint venture agreement with the City of Cebu and the Municipality of Cordova.
