PUBLIC JOURNAL No. 2: I AM NOT AN ATENISTA & Before I move on …
(This is my personal observation and opinion piece)
Yes … I did not study in the Ateneo … I shall share though that I DID APPLY but I was rejected.😬✌🏼
My exposure to the Ateneo is through my son and the men and women in my family who is either a homegrown or, at some point in their lives, have been able to experience the Ateneo/Jesuit formation and education.
Why share this? … To affirm that … as a parent, I have lived the Ateneo way for the past 16 years and more. It is a love-hate relationship as it is with any relationship. Calling one out is part of it … a crucial exercise to resolve pressing matters.
Before I advance from the Ateneo issue, I have one last thing to tackle which have been in my mind since I watched and listened to Fr. Bobby Yap’s Letter to the Ateneo community post-election.
I submit that, despite his friendly tone, spoken in the calmest, endearing, and warm manner, on the surface seemed genuine and heartfelt … I find it more sinister and underhanded.
I say this because of his premises and conclusions.
His statements declaring our nation to be “broken and fragmented”… our society “heavily fractured”, and our “democracy heavily damaged “ ends with a ”call to continue the fight for the truth” and to “not let lies whitewash the sins of the past “… is obviously quite leading and may even be … arguably seditious.
It seems his absurd assumptions need not be expounded on. The election results … one he imputes was tainted with anomalies … is used as a clarion call for people “ who value truth”. By that, he is accusing all those who do not agree with them … as those who do not value truth.
He seems to use his “infallible” position as head of a respected academic institution, and as an influential member of the clergy to make sweeping generalizations, and frankly, ridiculous claims about Philippine society as a whole. No one among the “flock” is supposed to question this stand … his cassock seems to be used as a protective shield. Indeed, the wolf is almost always disguised in sheep’s clothing.
A glaring absence in his message is that of FAMILY.
As all Christians and Catholics believe, the very foundation of oneself begins at home and within the family. His failure to mention “family”, intentionally or otherwise, is discomforting. He speaks as a cult leader would to his flock, whom he had successfully seduced thru deception and manipulation against an “enemy” … the enemy that “they” have chosen, I presume, is the First Marcos and the Duterte administration.
I have learned that for Marx, Lenin, Mao and those who believe and follow the ideals and philosophy of communism, family is nothing but an instrument of social control to monopolize properties and wealth and should be the first to be destroyed as the primary foundation of our society. It demands that they “disassociate” from family members who “disagree” with their new found beliefs. It’s a similar cult ethos … “Leave your family and loved ones behind, and commit in full to the cult, religion, group … your NEW FAMILY!” … THIS makes young minds more inclined to follow the cult leader blindly.
There are many examples in history … The National Socialists in the 1930s, the Pol Pot’s Khemer Rouge, the African Child-Soldiers … and increasing evidence of the CPP-NPA-NDF recruitment tactics in the poorest areas of our country. They all use the same propaganda to infiltrate and subsequently take over the minds of the young.
I have been told of an ancient Chinese fable, “The Foolish Old Man Who Removed The Mountains”. It is about a foolish old man whose house’s doorway face two great mountains obstructing the way. Determined, he led his sons in digging up these mountains. A wise man saw them and said derisively how silly they are to believe that they can accomplish such a silly task. The foolish man then answered that when he dies, his sons will continue his task and when they die, their children and their grandchildren will do the same. This would go on without end. He further said that the mountain may be high but it will not get any higher and with every scoop of soil, the mountains will eventually be removed. Having refuted the wise man’s ‘wrong’ view, he went on digging, unshaken in his conviction. God was moved by this and sent down two angels, who removed and carried the mountains on their backs.
Mao Tse-Tung’s CCP used this myth to condition the minds of the millions of Chinese youth in different generations to continue the Communists struggle against all forms of Capitalism (Imperialism and Feudalism). Eventually, he claimed, the mountains will be moved by “God” and the “revolution” … no matter how long it took … would be complete.
The CPP-NPA-NDF … taking advantage of the economic hardships in our country … has used this Marxist narrative to lure and recruit students in universities. They seek them out and begin the process of indoctrination … stoking them to leave their families to heed a higher calling under the guise of “ANAK NG BAYAN” to serve, entice and fight for and with … the poorest … the revolution of Mao.
The “enemies” of the leftist revolution are … Capitalism, nation-building, infrastructure, the AFP, PNP, and in the recent past, Ferdinand E. MARCOS, and all that he stood for.
THIS has also been the bedrock of the Yellow-cult
Their end-goal? The destruction of a sovereign Philippines.
