Lezo, Aklan- The local government of Kalibo together with the Lezo Parish is commemorating this week the 400th year of the feast of St Isidore the farmer.
Lezo town mayor Mary Lenette Fernandez said that they had made the commemoration simple because of both the Covid-19 pandemic and the recently concluded May 9, 2022 elections.
Isidore who hailed from Madrid, Spain was beatified in Rome on May 2, 1619, by Pope Paul V. He was canonized nearly three years later by Pope Gregory XV on March 12, 1622.
Among the activities being lined up for the May 15 feast includes thanksgiving mass, and sports activities such as cycling, and volleyball among others.
The St. Isidore Parish has also announced several beautifications of barangays and town initiated by the Barangay Pastoral Councils.
The town of Lezo in the Western part of Aklan is a 5th class municipality, the smallest town of Aklan having only 12 barangays.
