Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect Quezon, Palawan, Bicol, Visayas, and Mindanao over the next 24 hours due to the combined effects of a low-pressure area (LPA) and an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday afternoon, April 6.
The LPA, which is embedded within the ITCZ, was estimated to be 130 kilometers east of Davao City at 3 p.m.
According to PAGASA, the weather disturbance is less likely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, but it will continue to rain in Palawan, Quezon, Bicol, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The public is urged to remain vigilant due to the risk of flash floods and landslides during moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the northeasterly surface wind flow may bring cloudy skies to Aurora and Cagayan Valley, as well as partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains to Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region.
According to PAGASA, the skies in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
It also warned of the possibility of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Furthermore, the LPA outside the Philippine area of responsibility became a tropical depression on Wednesday afternoon and was estimated to be 2,485 kilometers east of Mindanao at 3 p.m.
It has no immediate impact because it is still too far away from the country. ###
