The New People’s Army, being the armed wing of the Marxist–Leninist–Maoist Communist Party of the Philippines, continues to spread its lies and deceptions to innocent Filipinos in the country. They have been deceiving and exploiting the gullible youth to join their armed struggle and ultimately become their tools in their desire of overthrowing the government.
This was shown in different NPA videos recovered from the battlefield all over the country, depicting brainwashed young people coming from well-known universities across the country who left their respective families because of the so called “Kilusan.”
One video was recovered from the blast site of the surgical strike in Samar last October 26, 2019, where Karen Mae Diaz and Francis Ern Mariveles, both former students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta Mesa; with Aelish Castro who’s confirmed to be taking up Political Science at the University of Santo Tomas, were identified. Three of them were initially members of ANAKBAYAN, League of Filipino Student, and Kabataan Party List.
Another video was recovered in an encounter site in Quezon Province in 2006, said video featuring numbers of young people identified as former student-members of progressive groups who underwent combat training. Among the personalities who were identified are Alexandrea Pacalda, a former student activist; and Yvann Curtis Zuñiga, a Bachelor of Science in Forestry student from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños.
The third video was recovered in December 5, 2019 during a law enforcement operation in Antipolo City, Rizal. Said operation resulted to the successful neutralization of the leader of SRMA4a, known with his alias “Pat Romano.” In the video, a missing individual (since 2016) was positively identified. She was Queenilyn Gromeo, one being recruited by ANAKBAYAN.
Her mother, Jaquelyn Mendoza Gromeo, now a member of Hands Off Our Children, expresses melancholy and her longing for her daughter Queenilyn. “Sa hinahaba ng panahon, tatlong taon ka nang nawawala sa pamilya natin,” she added. Mrs. Jaquelyn is just one of the many parents who lost their sons and daughters because of the lies and deceits of the leftist organization—CPP-NPA-NDF.
Their (NPA) scheme for their recruitment begins in school using activism to radicalize the students on societal issues as the method of arousing the students’ interest. Slowly, they are being immersed by the organization, where they are taught, persuaded and agitated leading them to join the armed revolution.
The numbers of university students turned NPA members who died in those encounters showed that the scheme is obviously working inside the very halls and walls of our academic institutions. Contrary to the dreams of every parent sending their sons and daughters to schools to prepare their children’s future, those terrorist groups who are hiding in sheep’s clothing definitely ruin every family’s dream for the next generations.
