DILG La Carlota City conducted Empowerment Symposium for the Youth

La Carlota City, Negros Occidental –The DILG-La Carlota City  in partnership with the 62nd Infantry “Unifier” Battalion and 32nd CMO Company, 3rd CMO Battalion with La Carlota City PNP and 605th (NOC) CDC, 6RCDG, ARESCOM, Philippine Army conducted joint Youth Empowerment Symposium for Peace (YES for Peace) Initiative and Kabataan Kontra sa Droga at Terrorismo (KKDAT) to 420 ROTC students of La Carlota City College held at LCCC Compound, Brgy Cubay, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on June 19, 2022.

The activity is part of La Carlota City Task Force ELCAC’s Strategic Communication Cluster Information Awareness which aims to educate the students on deceptive propaganda and youth infiltration by the Communist Terrorist Group on Negros Island. “Ka Sky”, a former rebel explained the deception, human rights violations, and hardship she experienced within the movement that had ruined her life.

After which, the participants take the “Pledge of Loyalty to the Philippine Government” upon realizing the terrorist activities such as brutal killings, extortion, recruitment of minors, sowing chaos, and destroying civilian properties by the CNT. The activity is followed by a lecture on ant-illegal Drugs, enlightenment on Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) benefits for former rebels and culminates with an “Offering Prayer and Candle Lighting” for the victims of Communist NPA Terrorist atrocities and human rights victims.

“Dr. Jose P. Rizal once said, the youth is the hope of our fatherland. You became the main target of the CTG for recruitment that must be avoided. You have so much to learn from today’s symposium just empty your cup and have an open heart and mind to understand the different topics to be presented,” message of Mrs Judy G Baculi, CLGOO VI, DILG Office, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
